The lava exploration tour is for those who love hiking, rucksacking and exploration. We can begin your journey at Hilo airport, Port of Hilo, or a local resort. Your day will start in Hilo at the beautiful Japanese Gardens named after Queen Lili'uokalani. Here you can enjoy an awesome view of Mauna Kea, one of the worlds tallest mountains, and a gorgeous view of the Hamakua coast.
From there we drive southeast toward Kalapana where the lava is the most active at this time. We will walk out to the current lava viewing area. At this time the lava fountains are amazing. We also drive down the famous Red Road where you will see some of the most gorgeous coastline. We we will also stop at Ahalanui Park where you can experience a volcanically heated spring. Due to changing conditions we will make any changes to actual lava location on your tour date.
