Due to recent activity in Halemaumau Crater there has been excess amounts of SO2( Sulphur Dioxide) at Volcanoes Natil Park and the closure of Crater Rm Drive. This tour has become an extremely popular and has surpassed our guests expectations. We can begin your journey at Hilo airport, Port of Hilo, or a local resort. Your day will start in Hilo at the beautiful Japanese Gardens named after Queen Lili'uokalani. Here you can enjoy an awesome view of Mauna Kea, one of the worlds tallest mountains, and a gorgeous view of the Hamakua coast.

Next stop is the beautiful Rainbow Falls, an 89 foot waterfalls cascading over a sacred cave. We also visit the majestic lagoon and banyan trees above the falls.

We would then proceed to the lava site at Kalapana where you will witness the steam flumes of the lava entering the ocean and view lava flowing down the mountainside. It is from this location that you will stand on what remains of the old Kalapana Beach...This beach is an awesome location to have lunch and listen to the lava rocks moved by the tide.

Kehena Beach Lookout; It is here that you will marvel at the majestic appeal of this hidden black sand beach. Warning: You may see nude sunbathers here.

Kalapana; Lava flow from a 1990 Kilauea eruption annihilated this town. A treasured Hawaiian fishing village richly steeped in the traditions of the past. This is the site of the most famous black sand beach in the world which today is entombed beneath 50-75 feet of lava.

Star of the Sea Church; built in 1928 and moved to its present location to escape the lava flows of 1990.

We also drive down the famous Red Road where you will see some of the most gorgeous coastline. We we will also stop at Ahalanui Park where you can experience a volcanically heated spring. Ask your reservations specialist about swimming here.
